Statement in support of local laws banning/restricting plastic grocery bags

NORWALK, CT  –  In light of the City of Norwalk considering a ban on plastic “carryout” bags, The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk celebrates such municipal efforts and encourages other communities to take up the cause. Norwalk Common Council is expected to vote Jan. 8 on an ordiance that would prohibit businesses from selling, providing or distributing carryout bags made of plastic. Maritime Aquarium eliminates nearly all single-use plastics

NORWALK, CT  –  As a leader in Long Island Sound and ocean conservation, The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is doing its part for the environment by significantly reducing its employ of single-use plastics. Gone from the Aquarium’s cafeteria and theater concessions stand are all drinking straws.
